Success Principles | Give to Give
I was reminded of another success principle while doing my daily devotional this morning. I’m currently in the middle of one of Beth Moore’s 90-day character studies… the life of David… and the title of today’s lesson was “Be Nice Even When You Don’t Have to Be”
Interesting concept, isn’t it?
So many times in the internet marketing world we talk about the rule of reciprocity. As in, if you give something to someone you are more likely to receive something back from them.
That’s true. And in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that! Networking is centered around this law of reciprocity… people connect and give to one another and as a result everyone’s business grows. It’s what we call a win-win.
But what about giving to someone who can’t give anything back?
When was the last time you gave something to someone just to give? With no motives other than to genuinely give from the depths of your heart. Have you tried it lately?
This idea has been particularly close to my heart since joining SendOutCards a couple of years ago. All anyone has to do is read Kody Bateman’s book, Promptings, or attend one Treat ‘Em Right Seminar and you “get it”. Kody’s passion for giving is so evident… and so contagious. It makes you want to be a part of a movement. It makes you want to be a giver.
I’ll let you in on a little secret though….
It is impossible to give something without receiving anything in return! You see, when you give to someone with the full understanding that you will receive nothing back it does something good in your soul. It makes you feel good. It fills your heart with love. It reminds of you of the goodness that exists within the human race!
So how about we all do a little more giving and a little less taking today? How about we perform a random act of kindness for a stranger? Or how about one for a friend?
I want to encourage you to try out this success principle. Give to give today. And I can guarantee what you’ll get in return will be more powerful than any sale or business connection you could make 🙂
“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
