Network Marketing Goals | How to Set and Achieve Your Business Goals
How do you set short term network marketing goals for your network marketing business that you’ll actually achieve?
In this week’s podcast I will break down one of my favorite goal setting strategies that’s probably different from what you’ve seen before. If you’ve ever struggled with how to set clear goals, and then how to follow through and actually achieve them, this week’s episode will be extremely helpful for you!

Network Marketing Goals | Defining Your Target
One of my favorite quotes by Zig Ziglar states, “You can’t hit a target you can’t see, and you can’t see a target you don’t have.” That’s so true, and it shows why it’s so important to have clear goals for your network marketing business.
Most people come into their business and adopt a “wait and see” approach. They’ll “give it a try”, and if it “doesn’t work out”… no big deal. They didn’t fail, they were just giving it a try, remember?
I truly believe this is one of the reasons so many people don’t make it in network marketing. In order to succeed you need to treat your business like a business, which includes defining clear targets for the next 30, 60 and 90 days throughout your entire network marketing career.
Network Marketing Goals | Step 1
To set clear network marketing goals you must start by defining your target. The simplest strategy I’ve found for this is to google your primary company’s income disclosure statement. This is a statement showing the average income for each rank within your company… and every company has one, because it’s the law!
A quick Google search should yield the results you’re looking for. Simply type in “Your Company Name Income Disclosure Statement” and see what pops up.
The reason I recommend starting here is because this chart will give you a clear picture of what’s possible at each rank within your company. From there, you can set realistic goals for where you want to be 30, 60 and 90 days from now.
For example, if you want to be earning $1000 from your company in 90 days, you can use the income disclosure chart to determine what rank you need to hit in order to be earning that income. From there, you can use your compensation plan to determine roughly how many team members and customers you need to achieve that rank.
Network Marketing Goals | Goals vs Benefits (And Why You Need Both)
I see a lot of people set their network marketing goals like this: “I want to be a X rank in 90 days.”
While that’s all well and good, the problem is too many people set this kind of goal and have no idea what level of results they need to have in order to hit that rank, or what kind of activity they need to be in to reach those results.
For this reason, I prefer to look at rank advancements, incentives, etc as BENEFITS of reaching a goal, not a goal itself.
If you want to set goals you’ll actually achieve, figure out how many team members and customers you need to enroll in order to gain that BENEFIT (rank advancement).
For example, in my company one of the first ranks we work with people to achieve requires them to enroll 2 new team members and help each team member enroll 3-5 customers.
If they do that, they automatically get the rank advancement and the pay increase!
I hope so!
Network Marketing Goals | Step 2
After you’ve determined how many team members and customers you want to enroll for the next 30, 60 and 90 days, it’s time to determine the BENEFITS of those goals!
Write out each goal as a positive, present tense statement with a deadline:
Example: “I’m so happy and grateful that I’ve enrolled 2 new team members and 5 new customers by August 1st or sooner.”
Then, take a few minutes to write down 2-3 BENEFITS of reaching that goal!
Will you hit a new rank advancement or qualify for a bonus with your company? Will this help you earn enough to cover a few of your household bills?
How will reaching this goal make you FEEL?
Write down 3-5 benefits for each of your 3 goals.
Network Marketing Goals | Step 3
Now that you have your goals and benefits, it’s time to get real. What kind of ACTIVITY will you need to be in… consistently, day in and day out… in order to make your goals a reality?
How many new people do you need to reach out to, and how many presentations do you need to do each week?
What kind of personal development practices do you need to put in place to ensure you maintain the right mindset to overcome the obstacles you’ll encounter, and push through until you achieve your goals?
Once you have a clear idea of what this number is, it’s time to get really honest with yourself: Is this level of activity realistic, and are you willing to commit to it in order to achieve your goals?
If the answer to either of those questions is ‘no’, then you need to revaluate your goals and adjust them accordingly.
If the answer is yes, then congratulations! The only thing left to do is to follow through on your commitment to the activities that will lead to making your goals a reality!
Network Marketing Goals | Bonus Tip
If you really want to stay motivated and in consistent action for the next 90 days so you can achieve the network marketing goals you’ve set for your business, this tip will really help you:
Each morning, take 2-3 minutes to read over each of your goal statements AND the corresponding benefits of that goal. Reach each goal and benefit statement OUT LOUD for maximum benefit!
This simple practice will help you stay motivated to get into action, help you push through fear, and remind you of WHY you’re in activity. The benefits of each goal provide the emotional connection between what you’re doing to grow your business each day, and WHY you’re doing those things. It can truly be one of THE most powerful strategies to fast track your goals and help you achieve them faster.
