How do you set short term network marketing goals for your network marketing business that you’ll actually achieve?
In this article I will break down some of my favorite strategies for setting network marketing goals that you can easily control and achieve to get the results you’re looking for in your business.
How to Set Short Term Network Marketing Goals
Have you ever set network marketing goals you didn’t achieve? Believe me… it happens to the best of us! In fact, it used to happen to me all the time until I learned the simple strategies I’m going to share with you in this article.
You Can’t Hit a Target You Can’t See
Setting network marketing goals is incredibly important, because you simply can’t hit a target you can’t see. Most people start their new business with vague ideas of success, but no clear definition of how much income they want to earn, what title they want to achieve or… even if they DO manage to clarify those two things, they have no idea when they want to achieve those things by.
To set clear network marketing goals you must start by defining your target. The simplest strategy I’ve found for this is to google your primary company’s income disclosure statement. This is a statement showing the average income for each rank within your company… and every company has one, because it’s the law!
A quick Google search should yield the results you’re looking for. Simply type in Your Company Name Income Disclosure Statement and see what pops up.
Take a look at the chart and determine two things: First, what Title and Income would you like to reach within the next 12 months or sooner. Second, what Title and Income would you like to reach within the next 90 days.
The problem most people encounter when they get this far is they determine these two things and then they stop. They set network marketing goals based on title and income, and then 90 days later there they are… still striving for that title and income without making any real progress toward reaching the network marketing goals they set. I don’t want that to be you!
How to Set Network Marketing Goals You’ll Actually Achieve
If you want to actually achieve your network marketing goals you must go deeper than simply stating a title and income you want desire. Yes, you need to START there, but you must go farther if you want to actually attain that result.
Once you’ve set a title and income, your next step in setting network marketing goals is to determine what actions will yield those results in your business.
Ask yourself: What actions, if repeated consistently over time, would make it inevitable that I reach [Title] and [Income] by [Desired Date]?
- How many new team members do you need to enroll?
- How many presentations would make it inevitable that you enroll ____ people?
- How many new people do you need to introduce to make it inevitable that you complete _____ presentations?
The answer to these questions becomes your goal.
Your goal is to talk to _____ new people about your business each week, perform ____ presentations each week and enroll ____ new team members each week.
Over the years I’ve found it’s often the mindset more than the skillset that keeps us stuck in our network marketing business. Even when we know where we want to go, too often we allow fear, obstacles, distractions and numerous other things keep us from achieving the network marketing goals we set.

1. Allows You to Trust the Process of Reaching for Your Network Marketing Goals
You can’t always control your title and income, but you absolutely can control the steps you take each day to get there. By having a clear plan in place and focusing on the PLAN rather than the destination it’s easier for you to trust the process and continue even when the results haven’t shown up yet.
2. Keeps You Accountable to the Actions That Will Make Your Network Marketing Goals a Reality
At the end of each day it’s incredibly simple to hold yourself accountable. Either you introduced your business to ____ new people or you didn’t. It’s that simple. There’s no room for a story… just a number. And the numbers never lie.
Where You Might Get Stuck:
There are a couple of places I see people get stuck when working this network marketing goals strategy, and they almost all are related to mindset. First, they stop because they don’t have enough people to talk to. In reality, this is a fear issue. People are everywhere… the only question is are you courageous enough to talk to them about your business?
Second, they stop because they aren’t sure what to say. Again, this is a fear issue. It’s not that you don’t know what to say, it’s that you don’t want to say something that results in failure or rejection. The reality is, people are going to reject your offer to look at your business. It’s important to understand they are rejecting the offer… they are not rejecting you! You must learn to let go of any emotional attachment to the outcome if you want to succeed!
Finally, the biggest place I see people get stuck is they aren’t consistent in their daily actions. They set the goal to talk to X people and perform X presentations, and they do… for a day or two. But then they stop. This is not an issue with not knowing what to do or even with not wanting to do it. This is an issue of not having a vision that’s strong enough to override your distractions, fears and focus.
