How to Share Your Business with Posture So You Have More Prospects Saying “YES!”
In this week’s podcast episode we’re going to talk about posture. Having the right posture when sharing your business will help you get more prospects to say “YES” to your business, get your prospects off the fence faster and help you easily work past the people who aren’t interested without becoming down and discouraged. The best part about posture is it is contagious — when you learn how to start approaching your prospects with the right posture they will naturally be more open and excited about what you have to offer, and those who choose to join you will share their new business in the same way.

If you’ve never tried affirmations before, they can seem a little silly at first. But here’s the thing: we talk to ourselves more than we talk to any other human being. We also say things to ourselves that we would NEVER say out loud to anyone else! “I’m not good enough.” “Why would anyone want to work with me?” “I can’t convince anyone to join my team.”

What Is Posture and How Do I Get It?
As a horse rider I get coached on my posture weekly: Shoulder blades together, spine straight, sternum posing forward. But that’s not the kind of posture we’ll be talking about today! In your business, posture is an attitude. It’s a belief… a point of view… a frame of mind!
One of the best definitions of posture I’ve ever heard is from Ray Higdon (of course!). Ray says posture is a level of belief in what you’re doing that’s so strong it does not require outside approval.

Network Marketing Posture Strategy #1 | Prospecting with Urgency
I remember back when I first got started in network marketing I grew my business by purchasing hundreds (thousands!) of leads online who had requested more information about working from home. Most days I would make anywhere from 40-50 dials, and there were times when I would make over 100 dials a day.
In other words, I didn’t have time to waste!
I want you to imagine for a minute how you would talk to your prospect if you had 100 more people waiting for your phone call that day. How would it change your language, your attitude, your POSTURE?
One reason we get so hung up on the response of one person is because we simply aren’t prospecting enough people. We hinge all our hopes on the few we reach out to, rather than reaching out to as many as possible to find the few who are interested.
Prospecting is a numbers game, and whoever works the most numbers wins. (Spoiler Alert: EVERYONE who works enough numbers wins!)
When I first heard about prospecting with urgency I mistook it for being brusque or rude… but that’s not what it is at all! When you are having a conversation with someone who’s genuinely interested, respects your time and is following-through on the steps you give them to learn more about your products or business you ABSOLUTELY want to take the time to build the relationship, answer their questions, etc.
However when someone blows you off, or becomes a time-suck by not being coachable and taking the steps you present them with, it’s time to move on to the next person.

Network Marketing Posture Strategy #2 | Prospecting with Excitement
People want to work with people who are passionate, excited and fired-up about what they’re doing and where they’re going. One of the best ways to posture up when prospecting is to make sure you’re excitement levels are overflowing and come through in what you’re sharing.
If you’re approaching your prospects timidly — “Oh hey… I don’t know if you’d be interested, you probably won’t be, but I want wondering if you might maybe be kind of willing to take a look at this thing I’m doing.”
“Hey! I recently started a new side gig that’s helping me walk away from my full-time job so I can spend more time with my kids and take them on that Disney vacation we’ve been talking about for so long! We’re growing so quickly and looking for people who want to add an extra $500 – $1000 a month in income on the side and I thought of you. It may not be for you, but if I sent you a 3 minute video would you take a look at it to see if you might know someone who would be a good fit?”
See how much more powerful that second example is?
One of the best ways to share your excitement is to share your STORY. As you can see in the example above, in the initial reach out you don’t want to overwhelm people with a bunch of details they don’t care about, but a quick sentence that shares why you’re excited and what you’re business is going to do for you can go a LONG way in sparking your prospect’s interest!

Network Marketing Posture Strategy #3 | Staying Unattached to the Outcome
Remember our definition of posture: A level of belief that’s so strong it does not require outside approval.
Too often we get hung up on the opinions and actions of others.
Here’s the thing: in order to be successful in your business, you need to develop the attitude that you are going to the top. Along the way, you’re going to take a lot of people with you. Along the way, you’re going to leave even more people behind. Not because you chose to leave them there, but because THEY chose to stay there. And there’s nothing you can do about it.
You have absolutely NO control over the opinions and actions of others.
When you prospect someone most aren’t even going to agree to take a look. Of those who agree to take a look, even less will choose to join you. Of those few who join you, only 20% will do anything at all and only 2% will go on to do anything significant.
^^ Write that down if you have to. Memorize it. Believe it. And go to work anyway.
You have no control over the opinions and actions of others. You have 100% control over your own beliefs and actions.
Most won’t agree to take a look. Ask anyway.
Most won’t choose to join you. Present the business anyway.
Most who join will do nothing. Enroll them anyway.
Lead by example and focus on your own actions and activities without any attachment to the outcome. Your attitudes and belief will come across in the way you talk to people… some will catch your excitement, your urgency and your belief and choose to join you, going on to share their new business with that same level of excitement, passion and commitment as well.
