Don’t Be a Gurutheloveguru

It seems like everyone I meet in the network marketing world has dreams of achieving “guru status”.

They listen to their favorite trainers and coaches, willing to follow them to the ends of the earth and attempting to mimic their every word.

I’ve seen everything from repeating a status update word-for-word to sending out carbon-copy emails — the problem is, the same words that flowed so eloquently from the guru’s keyboard… when mimicd… come out sounding forced and fake.

Make no mistake, this post is NOT meant to take a stab at the gurus.

I’ve met enough of them to know, most are among the most authentic, generous, kind-hearted people you will ever meet. They have a heart for helping people create lives of freedom and abundance.

And I’ll let you in on another secret… they aren’t out to create an organization of self-clones.

You see, the true gurus are out to help each person they work with grow and become a better version of who they already are. They want to see you become a better YOU… not a carbon-copy of themselves. They want to see you create your own voice and sing your own song, because it is only with that unique voice and song that you can become truly successful.

So yes… listen to the gurus.

Study them. Learn from them. Implement what they teach you.

But as you do those things, don’t neglect your own voice!

In this noisy world we live in, authenticity rules all.

You have the unique personality, skills and talents to put your own stamp on everything you touch. Because of who you are, you have the ability to reach certain people in ways no one else can. And you will never reach those people by trying to become someone other than your best, most authentic self!

So no. Don’t go out and try to be a guru.

Go out and commit to becoming the absolute best YOU there can be!

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than YOU!”
— Dr. Seuss
