Use this formula when you feel your daily action is not paying off:
“Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.” — Paul J Meyer
Do you ever feel like your goal is siting at a stand still? Like you’re running, with all your might, but look down and realize you’re on a treadmill… exhausting all this ever but going no where?
Or maybe you feel stuck on the freeway in rush hour traffic… you know the destination is not too far off, but at 2mph it might as well be on another continent.
Well take heart! You may appear to be stuck, but if there is anything fair in this life it is time. Time is no discriminator of persons… it works the same for everyone… and if you are doing your part, it will do its part for you.
I’ve read that if you are not going forward, you’re moving backward. I believe that’s true… because for each day you don’t spend working on your goal, you have one less day to make it a reality. But by putting in some effort, taking daily action every day, you begin to leverage that time and it compounds… day upon day, week upon week, month upon month, as you move slowly and steadily towards the realization of your goal.
Some days it may feel like you did not move forward at all. Other days, you may feel as if you took a giant leap! What you feel is not important… what is important is what you know.
If at the end of the day you know in your heart, “Today I did something, anything, that will move me forward towards my goal.”, you can rest easy knowing your part was fulfilled. By doing that every day all that’s left is to sit back and let time hold up its end of the bargain, which is simple: Time is going to pass anyway. Whether you do something, or don’t do anything, 24 hours from now a full day will have passed.
That being said, wouldn’t we all be wise to do something?
This is a principle I often think about when feeling stuck. Time is always marching forward. If I will continue to do my part… to press forward along with it every day… then at some point my vision + time will collide, and that collision will result in the fulfillment of my goal!
So take heart. Better even than that, take action! The only people who ever truly fail are those who fail to act.
And remember this quote…
“We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten. Don’t let yourself be lulled into inaction.” — Bill Gates
